About The Palm

The main living room area of the nest is called The Palm. This room is a large 24’ x 14’ space with an open ceiling featuring exposed scissor joists. The handmade Palmetto fiber wall covering is the room’s standout feature. A fireplace lines the north wall, and two pianos occupy the south side. The Palm displays period furnishings and artwork, including several paintings by Julia Daniels Moseley and other family members. Cherished ceramic dishes and collectibles are stored on built-in shelves, along with a cozy nook or ell area with books lining the walls. The Ell is a comfortable 10’ x 10’ space with a built-in divan, surrounded by bookshelves and cabinets. It opens off the north section of the east wall of The Palm, with windows filling the space with ambient light for reading or enjoying the view.
