About The Cuckoo

The Cuckoo is a long, narrow 24’ x 12’ bedroom designed by Julia Daniels Moseley. It was the first structure built as part of the new Nest in 1886, following a devastating fire that destroyed Moseley’s original log cabin on the property. A bathroom called Falling Waters was added in the 1940s to the southwest corner of this structure. The Cuckoo is connected to the main building by a large covered patio and hall or breezeway.
